Post B’Nei Mitzvah & Teens

Post B’nei Mitzvah

We encourage our Post B'nei Mitzvah students to continue to engage with Jewish ideas and issues after their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Once a month, our Hebrew School graduates meet with Rabbi Geffen and Shelley Lichtenstein. Rabbi Geffen invites teens to confront central questions that they face today within context of Jewish ethics.

The focus for the Post B’nei Mitzvah class this year will be Jewish History so students can further connect with and understand the history of our heritage.

Rabbi Dan and Shelley Lichtenstein are advisors for our monthly teen led high school youth group. The activities include Social Justice projects, social and holiday events. A favorite is a summer bonfire with s’mores.

Our High School Youth Group participates in the L’Taken Social Justice Seminar in DC. L’Taken is a transformational 4-day weekend focused on Jewish values, tikkun olam and public policy. The program exposes high school students to a variety of public policy issues, guides them to explore the Jewish values surrounding these issues and teaches them the skills to be an effective social justice advocate. The weekend culminates with meeting on Capitol Hill when the teens will have the opportunity to speak truth to power as they share their views on social justice topics with leaders on Capitol Hill.
