Our Hebrew School program (grades K-8) is an innovative, dynamic and warm environment where our students are encouraged to explore Judaism and Jewish identity through Torah, Jewish history, Jewish values, Israel, liturgy, mitzvot, Hebrew, and holidays. We foster a sense of community in a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere in which children can develop their Jewish identity with peers and a talented and supportive faculty. Learning takes place through art, music, drama, games, computers…in small and large groups.

Hebrew is taught beginning in Kindergarten through letter recognition. The older grades learn to decode and then read words and prayers. Conversational Hebrew is integrated throughout our program so that our students have an understanding and appreciation of Hebrew as a spoken language.

Tikun Olam/Social Justice is an integral part of our Hebrew School curriculum. We inspire our students to become contributing, caring and knowledgeable members of our community, our country, and the world through projects to help others.

Our core teaching philosophy is that each child’s needs are different. Within the limits of our facility and staffing, we strive to meet all children’s needs. We have never turned a child away, but we do need parental help in planning how to best support their learning and social needs.

We believe that our Hebrew School parents are our partners in the education of their child/children, and we encourage their participation in all activities.

We are planning to meet in-person this coming school year. Due to the synagogue's renovation, we will be meeting at the Old Whaler's Church, 44 Union Street, Sag Harbor.

Hebrew School Tuition & Synagogue Membership: It is our policy at Temple Adas Israel that every Jewish child will receive a Jewish education and no family is turned away from membership for want of funds. Synagogue membership is strongly encouraged. Please speak to our Membership Directors, Steve Rosen or Howie Lippman, about synagogue membership or complete our Temple Adas Israel Family Membership Application.
